Devin Blake's Journal

Friday May 21st, 2010

Our last lecture was this morning and was basically a summary of everything we have talked about over the past two weeks. We did however mention some new information on Chinese media. We learned that journalists have the second highest death rate because their jobs are dangerous. Bribery is also common among those in the profession. When the lecture finished, we were allowed free time for the day. Previously we had called a man to get certain paintings of our friend’s names done. Today was the day he came to the hotel, so we could pay for them and take them home. When he left, we took the subway over to the Pearl Market again.

This time at the Pearl Market, we were on a mission to get certain items. I went back to get a pair of shoes, and I think I got a pretty good price for them. Others went to get a polo shirt and a backpack. I think they did well with their purchases too. We also ate lunch afterwards at the same fast food place with a Dairy Queen. They actually ran out of chicken this time, so I decided to just eat ice cream for lunch. This being our last night, we met for a farewell dinner. The food was great, as expected. Those running the program joined us like in the welcome lunch. It was kind of sad realizing it was our last dinner together. Lots of pictures were taken when we finished eating. We then spent our last night at Propaganda again.
