Devin Blake's Journal

On the schedule today was the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. We took pictures outside the Bird’s Nest and then went inside the stadium. The structure was really neat and very innovative. Apparently the engineering of the building was carefully planned out so that the wires inside did not cast shadows on the field below. We were also surprised to find a man walking across a wire at the top of the stadium. He just continued back and forth along the top and at one point laid down on the wire to rest. Unfortunately, the Water Cube was closed for renovations, so we simply took some pictures outside.

Again we ate lunch at the same place we went to the first night. Then we went on our third company visit to Lenovo. This was by far my favorite company visit to date. The tour was very interactive and entertaining. The tour guide spoke great English and was extremely good at his job. He has definitely convinced me to consider being a consumer of Lenovo in the future. They showed us their past, current and future products. We also played a few games and watched some videos. I really felt that Lenovo incorporated all the business and engineering aspects that one can think of. They continually reinvent their products and target certain consumers worldwide.

After finishing our tour, we returned to the Forbidden City area to walk down some cultural streets. This was neat to see how Beijing used to be. There were lots of alleys filled with shops and food. We then ate dinner at a nearby restaurant and walked around the lit up area at night. Finally, we also stopped by the Olympic stadiums again to also see them lit up at night. Both were very pretty.
