STUDENT NAME's Journal

Our day off was today and it was perhaps the busiest day I have had yet. After a solid fifteen hours of sleep I woke up and ate breakfast. After breakfast it was immediately off to the Temple of Heaven which is a very large compound at which the emperor would worship. After strolling through the complex and seeing the main hall of worship, the echo wall, and the circular mound we leisurely exited through the sprawling gardens which were probably the most underwhelming part of the estate. We did, however, get to see many entertainment acts. It was almost like a park where we would walk by and see all individual performers putting on very good shows for all the pedestrians crossing their way. After the Temple of Heaven we went and got lunch at a Yokishona, Dairy Queen, and Rug Market hybrid. After eating and perusing the vast assortment of rugs it was off to the Pearl Market where they had many stands to bargain at with actually useful goods. After this we went back to the hotel to drop off all of our purchases and immediately turned around to go see an acrobat show. The show was probably my favorite part of the trip to this point; it offered an array of laser shows, dancing, acrobatics, and death-defying stunts. After this we got to experience true Chinese culture, navigating our way back through the foreign subway station.
