Today was a great day! First, we went to the zoo where we got to see the pandas, they were quite the attraction. They draw crowds the size of the rest of the exhibitions combined. Also at the zoo is a multitude of other interesting animals including a really angry looking leopard, an extremely lazy tiger, bears that figured out dancing makes people give them food (they were by far the coolest animals in the zoo), rhinos, hippos, even some zebras that the small children were feeding with their hands despite the blatant warnings, and many, many other animals. After that we went to another market where we could bargain but this place had much more useful stuff unlike the other place that was a sea of trinkets. This market any copyright infringed article of clothing you can imagine. They had quite the variety ranging from suits that you would never know had the finishing stitches put on that morning to t-shirts you didn’t believe for a second could hold up in a cool breeze and all for very low prices. I tried bargaining for a pair of Nike’s but the proprietor of the quaint establishment was unhappy with my price and kindly but sternly told me to get out. After this market we walked to another market, the “Korean” market as the dingy sign told us. This place looked like all the places people that are responsible for you tell you not to go but everybody wants to go to. It was large, loud, crowded, and shady which always means good prices and interesting items. When we had our fix of shopping we returned to find the best news of all, my suitcase had arrived and I could finally change clothes. In my entire life I had never appreciated clothes as I did that day. I took a long, hot shower with actual anticipation for the clothing change that was to come. For dinner we found out what Chinese people truly think of Americans sampling the “Bacon burger dog” consisting of a massive burger, two hot dogs, and a few strips of bacon. It was quite gross but equally amazing.
