I still really like the beds, I thought I was just tired from the fly but these beds are very accommodating. When I woke up and went to breakfast I disappointed to see no ham-bacon but we had waffle fries so I decided it was a push. I found out my luggage is still in New York and that was a downer but you win some you lose a lot. After breakfast we went to Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and shopped. Tiananmen Square was massive it was much larger than I anticipated; it is also much more relevant than I ever knew. All I ever knew it for was the protests that occurred but it houses the Chinese parliament, the equivalent to the white house, the national museum, Mao’s mausoleum, and the gates to heaven. In the Forbidden City we saw all the areas where the emperor used to reside. We saw both the inner and outer courts and had many picture taking opportunities. After the Forbidden City we went to an area in downtown Beijing where we got to go to a large stretch of market vendors and pick up neat tourist things and bargain for them which is always fun. I got a nice pair of chopsticks and an “authentic” fan for only $10. I also realized today that with the largest population comes the largest amount of traffic. To drive probably no more than ten or fifteen miles took almost an hour each way, it is unbelievable how much traffic there is considering I’ve never seen more bikes in my life.
