The beds we slept on felt like sheet rock, but they were, for some reason, quite comfortable. After an interesting breakfast of corn, ham-bacon, and French fries we went to a lecture on Chinese landmarks. I wasn’t particularly excited for it before hand but it was actually pretty interesting and engaging. After that we took a small break and watched some Chinese television which was definitely an experience. I still don’t have my luggage which is getting pretty old but it could be worse. After our break we went to Tsinghua University and toured the campus. It was a very interesting campus it started on one side with very nice buildings designed with Western architecture and gradually shifted to traditional Chinese architecture with the opposite side containing very ornate buildings surrounding a very beautiful lake, with a very tranquil waterfall. The shift is marked by the massive library which is a hybrid of both Western architecture and traditional Chinese Architecture. Also we had our welcome lunch today, it was very easily the most food I’ve ever had presented to me. They had every time of dish you could imagine and each one was very good. It was a feast of sorts with four courses: a cold dishes course, a hot dishes course, a soup course, and a snack course. For dinner we went to a very large shopping center and had a meal which our host picked for us, it too was spectacular. A recurring theme I am seeing is that people bring you way more food than you can eat.
