Day 1 My travel trip started bright and early Saturday morning with the first stop being Pittsburgh International Airport. This was my first time arriving at the airport alone and going through security and finding my gate which was neat. Once at the gate I met up with Krysta, Dr. Gao, Vince, and Sarah. Together we flew to JFK. JFK Airport is a lot bigger than I imagined and to get to Air China we had to ride the Air Train through seven other terminals. I personally am not a fan of JFK Airport because it’s too busy and we ended up getting stuck sitting in the airplane an extra two hours on the ground before even taking off for the thirteen hour flight. The flight went surprisingly well and I was able to sleep for about half. It was one of the biggest planes I had ever been on, it even had an upstairs! That’s some motivation to succeed so I can sit in business class. Once we arrived in Beijing it was already pretty late but we were all still hungry so we went to a local restaurant that specialized in porage. I tried it for the first time and it wasn’t bad. I have to keep reminding myself to be open about what to eat because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. After that we called it a night so that we would be well rested for the next day of touring.
