Day 10 Today was another day I was looking forward to all of the trip; getting to see the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. In 2008 I followed the Olympics everyday so getting to see where all the events actually took place was really neat. What I really liked about the Bird’s Nest was how ‘green’ it was. When in construction the silver paint used to coat all of the building was being decided on, one guy to prove his was environmentally friendly actually drank the silver paint. It was easy to say he won but I found that very neat. I also liked to see how much pride Beijing still took in the Olympic Park even two years after the actual event. One thing I was really upset about however was the fact that we didn’t actually get to go inside the Water Cube. One of my favorite events was the swimming and I really wanted to see where Michael Phelps won his 8 gold medals but it won’t be open until August. After seeing those we went on our third company visit to Lenovo. This was by far my favorite visit. The presenter was very interactive with all of us. We were able to see all of their product lines from the beginning until present and how they have changed over the years. One thing I was surprised to hear was that Lenovo was the company selected to create the 2008 Olympic Torch. I even got to hold it, which is something I never even dreamed of doing. All in all the company was very interesting, especially seeing how they were able to grow and mature over the years and stay a leader in their industry. After the company visit a small group of us went back to Tian’an men Square to see a small section of shopping near it that was still like old Beijing. That was especially neat because once you got to the end of the street it started getting into where they sold the really Chinese foods that you don’t see on the menus at the restaurants. However I didn’t try any of the authentic food, I was too scared.
