Day 7 Today was the day that I have been looking forward to all trip, the Great Wall. Seeing the Great Wall has been on my bucket list for years so it was definitely an accomplishment to see it. One thing I wasn’t expected was the walk up to the wall. I thought that the busses would drop us off right at the base but that wasn’t true, it was quite the hike up to it. Abby and I decided to take the chairlift up while the rest of the group walked. We saved almost 30 minutes. Being up on the Great Wall was indescribable. It is such an incredible historic site and to actually see it with your own eyes and not just read about it in a text book was something that I will remember the rest of my life. Another thing that shocked me was how steep it was. For some reason I thought the wall would be straight and flat but that was not the case at all. Some points in the wall are very steep and extremely hard to walk up. After visiting the wall for awhile we went back down to the base to shop a little then went to lunch at a local restaurant. It was another traditional Chinese style restaurant with a turn table. The food was delicious especially because we worked up an appetite walking the wall. However they did serve a bowl of chicken, and by chicken I mean the whole thing including claws and inners. I did not try that. After dinner we went back to the hotel and called it an early night at 6pm.
