Day 6 Today after breakfast was the Summer Palace tour. The weather wasn’t the best, it was very overcast but we still were able to see everything. Once we got there we started out by viewing some of the Emperors living quarters then went to the temple at the top of the hill. It was quite the walk up all those stairs but definitely worth it. However I think the highlight of the trip was going on the paddleboats. There was about 4 boats in the group and once out on the lake we ended up getting into a full out water war between the 3 boats (Krysta’s boat didn’t want to join). It was very fun and something that we would not have gotten away with in America. After that we went to a shopping part of the Summer Palace where we bought some more souvenirs for family and friends. It was very neat because it was along the water and they made you go one way around the shops. I am getting much better at bargaining prices lower. After that we went back to the city to go to a famous hot pot restaurant. It was definitely something different from America. What you do is pick your broth and then they give you a plate of vegetables and other things such as duck blood (which we do not have in America) and you put them in the pot and after awhile of cooking, fish them out and enjoy. It was very new to me but I don’t think I’ll ever go back. After dinner we went to Propaganda for the night. It was interesting to see the night life of China because while at the bar they only play American music. We were able to take charge of the dance floor and we were even able to get half of them to do the Macarena, which was hilarious.
