Day 5 After breakfast today we had our second lecture about Chinese thought. We learned about Confucius, Daoism, Legalism, and Buddhism. I found it very interesting how different religious beliefs from America are yet they have a lot of Christianity as well. After lecture and some free time we had our first professional trip to Capital Bio. I found it very interesting because it was located outside the city of Beijing so they had a lot more room to make their building pretty. Inside we learned about the structure of their business and how they tie into Chinese culture by relating the heavens and the earth through their bio chip. We also saw how some of their machines work and learned more about their chips. It was very complex but also very interesting. We also got to see how the businesses in China incorporate the feng shui design into their business by having gardens inside and outside the building. Another thing I found very interesting was that they had dorms where some or the workers can stay so they live and work in the same building. Personally, I think that would result in some major cabin fever and I would like to keep the two separate, even though they did a good job to make it more home like by having exercise equipment and cafeterias. After the tour we all came back to the hotel to shop at the local mart. Bargaining is still getting some used to but I think I’m getting quite good at it. Today I bought two name art designs where he spelt the letters using animals or flowers found in China for 10 yuan. I really wanted to buy a puppy. They were selling a Siberian husky puppy for 800 yuan and I almost couldn’t keep myself from buying it (my dream puppy). You just don’t find something like that in America, but I wish they did.
