Day 3 Today was a very long day. After breakfast we all loaded onto the bus to drive to the Forbidden City. Until being on the bus, I never realized exactly how large Beijing really was, just getting to the middle of the city took over an hour! Once at Tian’an Men Square we started walking around and sight-seeing. A lot of the Chinese people liked to take pictures of us or with us. I guess they don’t see westerner’s very often so that was entertaining. The place itself was beautiful. It was full of culture. However my favorite part was afterwards when we went to shop at one of the malls. First we had lunch which was another authentic Chinese style meal with a rotating table in the middle. It was very good but I didn’t like the fish soup. It did not help my stomach out. After that, Emma and I went shopping around the mall and then outside. There was a section of the shops where the price negotiating happens. That was probably my favorite because I liked getting cheap prices. I bought a chopstick set for my mom and saved 140 yuan! In addition to shopping, this section also had food and they were serving scorpions on a stick, and they were still alive! I was shocked and I couldn’t bring myself to try it. After shopping we all headed back to the hotel to nap and eventually had dinner at Pizza Hut. All in all it was a very long day and I am calling it an early night and going to bed. Beijing Zoo is tomorrow so I can’t wait to see the Panda and shop more.
