Day 2 Today I woke up bright and early (for me at least) at 7:30am and went to breakfast. Apparently it was a westernized breakfast which meant they served us French fries… Not sure I’ve ever had those for breakfast in American but I wasn’t complaining! Afterwards we all met for our first lecture on Chinese historic sites such as the Great Wall, The Summer Palace, Tian’an Men Square, and many others. I found it very interesting to finally hear this history from the perspective of a Chinese person. They have different views on some topics. I also really enjoyed the speaker since she was a student herself it was easy to relate to her. After lecture concluded we all went to have our welcome lunch. It was served in an authentic Chinese style where they bring out the courses one by one and put them in the middle of the table on a rotating table and everyone serves themselves. This meal was delicious; I especially liked the duck and the pork. After lunch we loaded onto the bus to go on a campus tour of Tsinghua University. It was a very beautiful campus that incorporated different styles from the west and from China. They also were nice enough to give us all a few t-shirt which I like a lot! For dinner we were on our own so Emma and I went to a local pastry place and got some snacks. Afterwards some of us and Vivien, one of our tour guides went to Lush to hang out before calling it a night.
